If Alfie is installed and can send and receive data with its server via HTTP the network logo in the bottom left of the menu screen should be green. If it is grey, there is no communication.
Firewall Restrictions
Alfie sends data to and receives data from our server found at http://my.alfiesoft.com (Server IP: 62.44.73.236). Most commonly a Firewall would restrict this.
If running within a restricted network (as most schools/Local Authorities do):
Ensure the Firewall settings allow bi-directional HTTP communication with http://my.alfiesoft.com. Your ICT department may commonly refer to this practise as "whitelisting".
If this does not work, there may also be security measures and/or authentication requirements at proxy server or application approval level that need addressing.
Proxy Server
Alfie should be using the OS default Proxy settings - this can be viewed in Alfie>Preferences>HTTP Proxy. Here you have the ability to override the proxy address &/or port and input Basic Authentication credentials (username/password) for the proxy server.
Application Approval for Proxy Server Communication
If "whitelisting" of the application is required for communication through the Proxy Server, then the following would be needed for Alfie to function fully:
Internet Browser Pop-ups
If running pop-up blocker software:
Communication System Check
