About Alfiesoft

Alfiesoft is a specialist company that has established a key position and reputation in the online assessment for education sector. Our products and services continue to be driven by the needs of schools and teachers to support teaching and learning and the raising of standards.

Our technologies and resources are backed by a solid foundation in computer games software design and development that began in 1986. Westcliff Data Services was established in 2001. During the first years the business concentrated on content conversion and Work for hire – with key customers NferNelson, Letts Educational, KPMG and Easypress.

From 2003 onwards the business refocused on elearning tools for partners and for the first time moved into direct sales (Myles). Products included Learnwise Publisher for Granada Learning, tools to assist the BBC with their BBC Jam Education websites and plugins to support Quark conversion to the elearning SCORM format. During this period the company also supported Capita with their (successful) bid for the National Strategies contract.

The Alfiesoft assessment system was developed following on from a range of assessment work for NferNelson (now GL Assessment) including the digital version of CAT (cognitive abilities test). This was driven by the need for an easy to use online assessment system for curriculum tests. Content was sourced through a relationship with QCA/QCDA commercial enterprises.

This system was then licenced exclusively to Serco Learning and incorporated fully into their product lines to schools as part of the Serco Aspire suite.

In recent times the agreement with Serco came to its end and Alfiesoft has been strengthened with partnerships with Collins Education to develop GCSE assessments and TLO, to develop assessments for PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills) and BLP (Building Learning Power) based on the work of Professor Guy Claxton.

The company has a range of assets that it wholly owns namely the Alfiesoft assessment system, Alfiesoft client, Myles elearning publishing tool and SCORM XT publishing tools.

Alfiesoft is proud to be a member of BESA, affiliated through members to the CIEA and a commercial member of Schools North East.

  Chris Pearce

  Chris is an experienced consultant specialising in mathematics and assessment. He was recently teaching and learning advisor at North Somerset and National Strategies advisor in Bristol following a long teaching career as Head of Maths at Ham Green school. He is also an author of texts and assessment items for companies such as Collins and Cambridge.

  Tandi is an experienced academic and teacher having worked for the NFER (National Foundation for Education Research) and previously at Kings College London. She is a Maths specialist and Board member of the CIEA.
